1969 Importadores Peruanos: Idolos del Futbol Peruano

Background

This album was created in Peru and was done as a build up to the 1970 World Cup which would be the second time Peru featured in the tournament. The producer of the album was Importadores Peruanos, who had made the albums for the 1962, and 1966 World Cups in Peru.

The album covers the 1969 Peruvian Torneo Descentralizado and features headshots of the starting players of all the teams that participated in the season. There is also a section that includes the Copa Peru, the Peruvian National Team, and images of Peru's road to qualifying.

The album is iconic in the history of Peruvian sticker collecting and contains the rookies of iconic Peruvian players such as Teofilo Cubillas, Hector Chumpitaz, Hugo Sotil, Cesar Cueto, and Carlos Oblitas

Proof of Year for the Album (1969)

The album can be identified as 1969 because of the teams that it covers (1969 Peruvian Descentralizado). Below there is an image of the Index and of the 1969 Descentralizado teams from Wikipedia.

Another method of finding a date for the album is by analyzing the player bios and matching the age they have for the player to the year the album should represent.

Roberto Challe has a date of birth of November 24th, 1946. In the 1969 Album Idolos del Futbol Peruano, his age is labelled as 22 years old. This means that the earliest the album could be produced is November 24th, 1968 and the latest it could have been produced is November 24th, 1969.

Nicolas Fuentes has a date of birth of December 20th, 1941. In the 1969 Album Idolos del Futbol Peruano, his age is labelled as 27 years old meaning that this album had to be produced prior to December 20th, 1969.

The album also includes a section on the build up to the World Cup. The last game of the World Cup Qualifiers for Peru, which confirmed their presence at the tournament was on August 31, 1969.

This indicates that the album was most likely to have been produced in Late 1969.
