1926 Cigarrillos Plus Ultra: Alfredo Carricaberry

Carricaberry was one of Argentina’s greatest footballers from the pre-war era. He was a prolific attacker and was deadly from the right wing. Carricaberry spent most of his career at San Lorenzo and contributed immensely to the golden era the club had in the 1920s.

With San Lorenzo, Carricaberry won the Primera Division on three different occasions. Carricaberry was well known for his incredible speed, dribbling ability, and an unstoppable shot. During the three national championships Carricaberry won with San Lorenzo, he was the main attacking threat. When Luis Monti was in the midfield for San Lorenzo, Carricaberry would score goals for fun by having Monti play pinpoint passes in behind defences. Carricaberry would also win the Copa Aldao (Uruguay-Argentina Super Cup) twice with San Lorenzo.

For the national team, Carricaberry participated in the 1927 Copa America that Argentina would win, and the 1928 Olympic Games where Argentina would finish runner up to Uruguay. During the 1927 Copa America, Carricaberry would win the golden boot.
